I went for a ride....

I took my new toy, the NORCO out for a long ride, I went about 85k and its a dream to ride really smooth. I only planned on going for an hr or so but it turned out to be over 3 hrs!!! The bike was so good to ride and the senery helped also. Was gr8 to be back on a bike, Paul its a flat bar roadie!! I rode to the base of Mt washington then back to Courtenay, down the island to Royston cutting thru to Cumberland and stopping by Comox Lake, Its a beautiful glacier lake!! Its huge!!! and bloody cold I'm told, (If you go to my GoogleEarth link (Where's Comox) then scroll over to the left and down a little you will find it!) the water is crystal clear, very picturesque!!

Guess Who's a LIFTY????

Just got home from my interview!! And I have gr8 news, I got the job I wanted a lift operator, I have a week of training from the 26th Nov til the 30th. Then the season officially starts on the 6th December!!! I'm so looking forward to it, it should be heaps of fun, even though there is an ad on tv quoting Mt Washington as a place for canadas' worst weather conditions, Oh well I should have all the gear!! Most of all I get to go boarding every day b4 or after work! They have night sking too, this year they have a harder run under lights not just a kiddies run!

Brenna had also go a job up the mountain!!! She will be in the warm serving hungry people!! She is looking forward to it too!
FYI from home its a 25 min drive to the base of the Mt, then its a 16k drive (Which we dont have to do, they have a staff bus) to the lifts etc!!

Only 23 days to go!! The count down has begun!!

Dan learns some Canadian Culture

A couple of days ago Brenna and I visited the local Indian "First Nation" art museum. Here there was haeps of awesome pieces of art work and stunning photos. The local culutre as with many indigonous people embrace the land, and spirits. You see heaps of totum poles around which all have significant meaning! In the picture below although its side ways you can see a killer whale and its rider. The whale symbolises a traveller & gaudian and its a symbol of good!

Other symbols of interest are
Bear: Strenght, learned humility, teaching...
Beaver: Creative, Artistic, and Determined
Bumble Bee: Honesty, Pure Thinking, Willingness and Drive
Dragon Fly: Ever Changing Life
Eagle: Great Strength, Leadership and prestige
Frog:Spring into new Life, Communicator and Stability
Hawk: Strength and Far sighted
Hummingbird: Love, beauty, Intelligence, Spirit Messenger
Moon: Protectorand Gaudian of earth by night
Sun: Healling Energy, Gaurdian of earth by Day

This is just a few examples but nearly every animal has a meaning and legends behind it..
Who know which one may end up on my Skin!!
